Fellowships for Americans
Fulbright Israel Fellowships for Americans provide U.S. citizens with first-hand experience of the complexities of life in Israel beyond the news headlines, while simultaneously enabling them to realize their academic and research goals through association with Israel’s world-class institutions of higher education.
Applications for U.S. citizen grants are submitted by the candidates to the agencies which administer the Fulbright program on behalf of the Department of State:- the Institute of International Education for student exchanges, and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars for exchanges of academic staff and other senior professionals.
Fellowships for Israelis
Fulbright Israel Fellowships for Israelis afford rising academics and professionals the opportunity to hone their skills and broaden their world views through study and research at prominent American universities and research institutes.
Applications for Israeli citizen awards are submitted by the candidates to the United States-Israel Educational Foundation.
Maximum number of Fulbright scholar and teacher grants
The maximum number of any combination of Fulbright scholar and teacher long-term grants (over two months) which an individual may receive during the course of his/her lifetime is limited to two, with the following conditions and exceptions:
- A student grant does not count towards this lifetime limit.
- A short-term grant (two months or less) shall count as 0.5 of a Fulbright long-term grant for the purpose of calculating the number of grants received. The number of short-term grants received may not exceed two in a lifetime.
Minimum waiting time between grants
Recipients of a short-term grant (two months or less) are eligible to receive a long-term grant (over two months) two years after the date of completion of the short-term grant.
Recipients of a short-term grant (two months or less) are eligible to receive another short-term grant two years after the date of completion of the preceding short-term grant.
Recipients of a long-term grant (over two months) are eligible to receive another long-term grant five years after the date of completion of the preceding long-term grant.
Recipients of a long-term grant (over two months) are eligible to receive a short-term grant (two months or less) two years after the date of completion of the long-term grant. Maximum number of Fulbright student grants
No individual may receive more than one Fulbright Student Program award.
The recipient of a Fulbright Student Program award may receive a Fulbright-Hayes Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program Fellowship in a subsequent year, but not sooner than one year from the completion of the Fulbright Student Program grant.
The recipient of a Fulbright-Hayes Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program grant may not subsequently receive a Fulbright Student Program grant. |
