USIEF's EducationUSA Center provides accurate, comprehensive, current, and unbiased information on post-secondary educational opportunities in the United States.  Our services cover the entire range of options, from one-year technical courses, English language programs and distance learning, through associate and bachelor's degree programs, and up to post-graduate programs leading to professional degrees in law and medicine and MA and PhD degrees in all disciplines. 

EducationUSA's staff is trained to help you make the best and most realistic choices for your specific needs by offering unbiased information and advice on over 3,600 universities and colleges in the U.S.  Once you have made your choices, we offer step by step professional guidance through all stages of the application process.

EducationUSA's advisers and their clients make use of USIEF's reference library on study programs in the US, an extensive collection of reference guides, computerized search information, school catalogues and scholarship information.

The EducationUSA membership plan

The EducationUSA Membership Plan offers a comprehensive service package, specially designed for those seriously considering studies in the USA for an academic degree. Those joining the Plan receive all of the following:

Introductory group counseling session

In this session you and others considering a similar program of studies will receive information on the following topics:

 

  • choosing the program best suited to your goals;"the intricacies of the admissions process;
  • standardized tests  - TOEFL, SAT, GRE, GMAT;
  • the cost of studies and application for scholarships, including athletic scholarships;
  • visa regulations and the preparation of visa applications.

Special group sessions

Plan members may take part, free of charge in special presentations on the following topics:  

 

  • MBA, Law (LLM, JSD) and Psychology (PH.D., PsyD.)  - These meetings enable candidates for study in the US to benefit from the experience of Israelis who are currently enrolled at US institutions and of others who have already received their degrees. 
  • BA/BSc studies - For those interested in BA/BSc studies meetings are organized both with university representatives and with Israelis currently enrolled at US institutions.
  • Academic Writing Session - This meeting addresses the importance of academic writing in the graduate school admission process and provides guidance on the preparation of university admission essays.
  • Mock Interview Session - This meeting helps students prepare for admissions interviews.

Unlimited personal counseling sessions

After taking part in the introductory group session, you will be able to make appointments for as many personal counseling sessions as you find necessary.  You will be able to discuss details regarding your admission to US institutions one-on-one with a trained counselor.  According to the member's convenience, personal counseling sessions may be held in Haifa, Jerusalem or Beer Sheva, as well as in the EducationUSA offices in Tel Aviv.

Information services

Access to USIEF's extensive collection of catalogs, reference books and data banks is available to all, free of charge.  In addition, as a Program member you will receive at your introductory group session a copy of EducationUSA's handbook for candidates for study in the US, with detailed information on the admissions process, and a personalized list of universities offering programs in your intended field of study.  Those interested in undergraduate courses of study will also receive a copy of Peterson's Applying to College and Universities in the United States - A Handbook for Foreign Students.  Your membership also entitles you to three 45-minute sessions on our computer to conduct internet and other special software searches for needed data.  Finally, you will be able to make up to 30 pages of photocopies free of charge.

Bagrut translation service

Undergraduate EducationUSA members are entitled to have their Bagrut diplomas translated to English and certified for a nominal fee of NIS 100.00.

Post-acceptance services

After being accepted to a US university or college you will receive a copy of the EducationUSA pre-departure handbook, which includes 90 pages of valuable information on preparing for departure and life in the US, and a list of Israeli students studying/who have studied at the same university or in the same region.  You will also be entitled to take part in a special pre-departure orientation, organized by EducationUSA in June of every year, where lecturers and a panel composed of an American student, an American professor and Israelis who have studied/are studying in the US speak on academic issues and on adjusting to living in the US (health services; financial services; housing; transportation, etc.).

How to become a member

To join the EducationUSA Membership plan call  03-517-2131 , extension 200, or visit our office in the Migdalor Building, 1 Ben Yehuda Street, Tel Aviv, 10th floor, to schedule your participation in a group introductory counseling meeting. 

 

The EducationUSA membership fee for MBA candidates is NIS 600. The fee for those applying to graduate programs in other fields and for candicates for undergraduate degrees is NIS 500. This is to be paid - in cash or by credit card - on the day of the introductory session.  Membership is valid for two years from the date of payment.

Please note that we are unable to provide personal counseling regarding academic studies in the United States outside the framework of the Membership Plan.

EducationUSA services to the general public

Main reference library

There are three EducationUSA reference libraries available for students' use.

 

The main reference library is located in Tel Aviv, and is open to the general public, free of charge, from 12:00 noon until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week. 

 

Please note that the Reference Library is closed to the public on holidays, and may also be closed because of special events. Please call  03-517-2131  Extension 200 for special announcements. 

Satellite reference libraries

Free access is also offered to satellite reference libraries in Jerusalem and Haifa.

Individual counseling on distance learning and on
US-based non-academic programs

Individual counseling sessions regarding these study opportunities may be booked with the EducationUSA advisers. The cost of a thirty-minute session is NIS 50.00.

Examination registration packets and other publications

EducationUSA sells registration packets for the major standardized admissions tests and medical certification examinations, admissions test study guides and other material regarding study in the US.   Publications may be purchased at the EducationUSA reference library.  Some material may also be purchased at the Jerusalem and Haifa satellite libraries.  If you wish to receive material by mail, download the publications list/order form, mark your order and send it to us by email (adviser@fulbright.org.il) or by fax (03-516-2016).
