Clinical Psychology Information Session

August 2, 2010 - USIEF Offices

 

EducationUSA Center organized an information session on Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology which covered an overview of the Clinical Psychology programs in the U.S., information on the admission and internship process, licensing in Israel and scholarship opportunities.

 

The presenters are current Ph.D. students at Columbia University and Hartford University whose Clinical Psychology programs are accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

 

Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business Information Session

EducationUSA Center would like to invite prospective MBA students to an information session conducted by a current student, Class of 2011.

 

A current student, class of 2011 gave a presentation on Georgetown University's MBA program. The session focused on the Georgetown MBA curriculum, student life, career management and community.

 

6th annual MBA FAIR

July 15 & 16, 2010 - Carlton Hotel, Tel Aviv

 

Over 300 prospective students attended our 6th annual MBA FAIR where twenty top U.S. business schools took part in the fair.

 

The two-day fair gave students an opportunity to speak to U.S. admission representatives and alumni from leading business schools. In addition, many informative and inspiring panels took place during the fair.

 

 

Ever dream of becoming an Ambassador?

June 23, 2010 - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jerusalem

 

Sixty students attended an information session organized by The U.S.-Israel Educational Foundation in collaboration with the Communications Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Students had an opportunity to ask questions on the pressing issues on how Israel is perceived by the world and how to represent Israel as an international student.

 

Pre-departure Orientation Day

June 17, 2010 - Carlton Hotel, Tel Aviv

 

Over 100 students took part in the annual Pre-departure orientation day.

 

The day's program featured a distinguished panel of guest speakers who discussed issues such as academic and cultural adaptation, daily living in the U.S., finances, health insurance, visa regulations and much more.

 

Undergraduate application strategy workshop

Over thirty students took part in a workshop that addressed the following best kept admission secrets:

 

• How does the admissions committee make decisions in regards to international student admission;
• What kinds of students are universities looking for;
• What constitutes a good recommendation letter;
• Importance of essays in the admission process;
• Scholarship information;
• Life and culture for an international student in the U.S.

 

The workshop was delivered by Mr. Thomas B. Hassett, Director of International Admissions, Gannon University and Immediate Past President: PACAC, Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling.

Over sixty students attended the presentation which focused on  program opportunities at leading MBA programs, specializations offered, costs, scholarship options and post-graduate employment opportunities.

Twenty students applying for the 2010 academic year took part in an MBA Interview Workshop.

 

The workshop was conducted by a member of Columbia Business school's admissions committee and an official interviewer at Columbia Business school.

 

The workshop included information on the interview strategy, tips for a successful interview, and mock interview practice sessions.

The panel was moderated by the Director of Graduate Law Admissions at Duke University, Ms. Judy Horowitz. In addition the panel consisted of alumni from the following universities:

Fourty students attended a presentation on MA and Ph.D. degree programs in Political Science and International Affairs in the U.S.

 

The presentation was delivered by a panel of current students and alumni from three leading universities:

The presentation covered the following subjects: Overview of political science programs at the above universities, admission criteria for acceptance to graduate programs, internships and post-graduate employment opportunities. 
 

Undergraduate application strategy workshop

As part of Department of State's International Education Week, EducationUSA held an application strategy workshop for undergraduate students applying for the 2010 academic year. 

 

Thirty students took part in a workshop which was intended to maximize students' chances for acceptance to universities of your choice.

 

The subjects covered were as follows:

 

• Tips on how an Israeli student can maximize unique aspects such as the Army experience, the Bagrut document etc.;
• Discussion on the profile of accepted students;
• How to fill out the Common Application;
• Strategy on essay writing;
• What is a good recommendation letter;
• Life and culture for an international student in the U.S.

 

The workshop was delivered by Ms. Evelyn Levinson, a 30-year expert on international education and the current Director of International Admissions at American University, Washington D.C.

Eighty-five prospective students took part in an introductory presentation on graduate study in the U.S. The presentation was geared to students interested in MA, Ph.D. and MBA study in the U.S.

MIT Engineering/Computer Science Graduate Presentation

Sixty prospective graduate students attended an information session on MIT graduate programs which was delivered by a panel of alumni.

 

The presentation gave participants important insights into the admission process, orientation of the various science departments, life in Boston with additional family members, and much more.

which was intended for students applying for BA degrees.

Fifty students took part in a presentation conducted by the Regional Admissions Representative of MIT and a Harvard alumni.

 

The presentation gave participants important insights into the admission process, including strategy of admission to the schools, admission essays, letters of recommendation, scholarships, life in Boston, and much more.

University of Virginia, Darden School of Business Information Session

Twenty students took part in an information session hosted by the Darden School of Business Israeli Alumni Association 

 

The presentation focused on:

 

• The admission process and all the pertinent admission criteria;
• importance of work experience prior to applying;
• internship opportunities;
• employment opportunities post graduation;
• how the current finacial crisis affects admission and employment opportunities.

 

Darden's MBA program in finance, marketing and management has been ranked in the top 10 by Business Week, and by Financial Times ranked #2 in the world in the general management program.

• the importance between the Personal Statement and the Statement of Purpose;
• special points which should be emphasized in the statements.

Duke University, Fuqua School of Business - MBA Information Session

Twenty-seven prospective MBA students took part in a presentation conducted by the Assistant Director of admissions of the Fuqua's School of Business.

 

Duke's MBA program has been ranked among the best in the following fields: entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, strategy, bio-technology, health care, and medical engineering management.

Over four hundred prospective students took part in EducationUSA's fifth MBA fair held in Tel Aviv.

Eighteen leading business schools participated in the fair.

  

Students had an opportunity to meet U.S. admissions representatives and alumni and listen to various panel discussions on current admission and recruiting trends at U.S. business schools.

Forty five prospective students interested in Ph.D. programs in Clinical Psychology took part in an information session that covered information on the admission process, overview of the Clinical Psychology program, and internships required as part of the program.

 

The presenter was a Ph.D. student at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. whose Clinical Psychology program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

 

In addition, Ms. Nurit Lustig, Senior Clinical Psychologist and Senior Coordinator and Acting Member of the Psychologist Registration Committee, Ministry of Health, gave a presentation on the necessary steps for licensing in Israel with a U.S. degree.

MBA Interview Workshop/MBA Recruiting Process

Thirty-five students took part in an interview workshop, which was conducted by a member of Columbia Business school's admissions committee and an official interviewer at Columbia Business school.

 

The workshop included information on the interview strategy, tips for a successful interview, and mock interview practice sessions.

 

In addition, we were pleased to host an NYU alumni, currently employed at Google, who developed a successful strategy for the "American MBA recruiting process." He delivered a presentation on post-graduate employment opportunities in the U.S., how to prepare impressive C.Vs,

and how to successfully market oneself.

Twenty students took part in an undergraduate writing and admissions strategy workshop whose purpose was to focus on improving the students writing skills and to guide them in the complex admission process to U.S. schools

 

The workshop was conducted by the Senior Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Vanderbilt University who also discussed the various programs available at Vanderbilt university.

Twenty students attended an MBA program information evening which featured a panel discussion with UCLA alumni and a presentation by the Associate Director of MBA Admissions.

MBA FAIR 2008

September 11-12, 2008 - Carlton Hotel,Tel Aviv 

Over five hundred prospective students took part in StudyUSA's fourth MBA fair held in Tel Aviv.

Sixteen leading business schools participated in the fair.

 

Ambassador James B. Cunningham and USIEF Chairman Dan Vilenski gave opening remarks. They were followed by an impressive group of keynote speakers, among them Vice-Admiral Mr. David Ben Bashat, Former Commander in Chief of the Israeli Navy. 

Special Preparatory English Course for Arab students

July 28, 2008 - Neve Yosef Community Center, Haifa

 

Sixteen students were selected and took part in the opening of the Special English Course for Arab students who are interested in improving their English language skills and gaining admission to graduate programs of study in the U.S.

 

The course consists of 272 academic hours at the end of which students will be ready to take the TOEFL and GRE examinations.

Vanderbilt University, in cooperation with Delek Corporation, is offering  two full scholarships for qualified students in any chosen field of study. 

 

Vanderbilt University is ranked in the top 20 among national universities by U.S. News & World Report, and recognized as one of 25 "New Ivies" by Newsweek magazine.

The United States-Israel Educational Foundation, together with Nirshamim and the Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, held Israel's first Undergraduate Studies Fair.  Six hundred and twelve prospective students attended the fair.

 

Over twenty leading undergraduate schools were represented at the Fair by currently-enrolled Israeli students and Israeli alumni.

15 students attended an MBA program information evening which featured a panel discussion with UCLA Anderson alumni and presentation by an admissions representative.

Forty-one students took part in the MBA writing workshop which focused on the importance of essays in the MBA admission process. 

 

The workshop was conducted by professional tutors and other service providers who discussed the following topics:

 

• strategic planning of MBA applications and program selection;
• understanding the essay questions posed by universities such as Stanford, Wharton, Kellogg and Harvard.
